Elizabeth Sayers
Elizabeth Sayers,PA-C, has always been passionate about serving others.
She earned her first dollar peddling newspapers at the age of 11. As a teenager and young adult, she continued to work hard in a variety of jobs including babysitting and restaurant work. During college summers, Elizabeth labored away on graveyard shifts to fund her college years doing whatever it took to enter the field of medicine, where she figured she could do the most good for the most people.
A native of Kalamazoo, Physician Assistant Elizabeth Sayers remembers even as a youth “always being fascinated by the human body.” Fueled by that passion, she worked night and day in order to fully finance an undergraduate degree in health science from Grand Valley State University, as well as her PA degree from Western Michigan University.
Elizabeth joins Dr. Jihad Mustapha and Dr. Fadi Saab as the founding medical team of Advanced Cardiac & Vascular Amputation Prevention Centers. ACV focuses on treating advanced Peripheral Vascular Disease (PAD) and Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI).
These days, Elizabeth respects her workplace as a destination that for many is a “last resort” to avoid limb amputation. She and her colleagues work tirelessly to cultivate a close relationship with every patient they serve.
“We’re all very passionate about putting a nice personal touch on our practice,” she says. “It’s important for us to get to know each patient and family. And of course, we enjoy sharing something of our lives with them as well. It’s all about making sure we’re communicating with our patients.”
Elizabeth singles out a patient formerly from Maryland to help illustrate the depths to which she and Dr. Mustapha and Dr. Saab will go to accommodate a person in crisis. After driving nearly 700 miles from the East Coast to be seen and treated in a successful effort to save her leg, the patient decided to move to Michigan to be closer for follow-up care from a staff she’d come to trust with her very life.
When Elizabeth isn’t working, she enjoys exploring the beautiful state of Michigan, camping, cycling and hiking with her three daughters and husband, Phil, who is the Associate Head Coach of Women’s Basketball at Grand Valley State University. She also serves a youth program at her church and is a hobby photographer.
Elizabeth has specialized in cardiovascular practice since her graduation from WMU in 2004. She is BLS and ACLS certified, and her professional affiliations include the American College of Cardiology.
